ENBIO’s SolarWhite lab has been refitted to meet the particulate requirements for an ISO Class 7 cleanroom. This unveiling marks the latest step in ENBIO’s partnership with the European Space Agency to develop thermal control coatings for the Solar Orbiter mission in 2017. Solar White has been extensively tested at ESTEC (European Space Research and Technology Centre, Netherlands) and Airbus Space & Defence in Stevenage. The thermo-optical properties of the coating remains extremely stable even after thousands of equivalent-sun-hours and extreme temperature variations. The new facility will be used to qualify SolarWhite for mission usage over the coming months.
